Liberty Fund HQ earns LEED Silver with a 20-year geothermal payback
Sitting on a previously undiscovered bed of limestone and an unusually high water table, Carmel, Indiana-based Liberty Fund is making excellent use of a new geothermal well system. The estimated payback on the system is twenty years.
Templeton Elementary School saves nearly $60k in two years
Thanks to a photovoltaic solar system and efficiency upgrades, Monroe County’s Templeton Elementary School reduced electrical costs by 93%, saving the Monroe County district $59,400. Money that was available to use for other much-needed capital improvements. The cost of the installation will pay for itself in twelve years and reduces their carbon footprint by 550,000 tons per year.
Indianapolis’ Eagle Branch Library earns higher-than-expected LEED Gold
The new 20,000 square-foot development to the Indianapolis Public Library’s Eagle Branch originally sought LEEDv4 Silver Certification. Thanks to new building systems, lighting, and solar photovoltaic power, 75% of the branch’s electrical needs are covered. The Library now expects to save over $10,000 per year and has been awarded LEEDv4 Gold Certification.
