R.E. Dimond and Associates provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and telecommunications (MEPT) engineering design services for the new Westfield Public Library and Trustee’s Office, located in Westfield, Indiana. The library is a new construction project with a total floor area of 56,000 square feet.
Mechanical Engineering Scope
- Rooftop mounted air-handling units.
- A central heating water plant.
- Variable air volume (VAV) boxes with heating water coils for zone temperature control.
- Perimeter hydronic heating systems to address thermal comfort near external walls.
Electrical Engineering Scope
- Designing power distribution and lighting systems within the building.
- Providing site lighting solutions for external areas such as the parking lot, ensuring adequate illumination and security.
Plumbing Engineering Scope
- Designing stormwater drainage systems.
- Designing domestic hot and cold water systems.
- Designing sanitary sewer systems appropriate for public facilities.
Fire Protection
The fire protection strategy includes a comprehensive sprinkler system throughout the building.
Telecommunications Engineering Scope
- Data and fiber optic cabling infrastructure for robust network connectivity.
- The design of voice and data outlets.
- Wi-Fi network implementation to support public and administrative needs.
- Security systems including video surveillance and card access control.
- Audio and video systems for programmatic and operational use.
