Toyota Material Handling – Plant #4

Project Overview

R.E. Dimond and Associates provided MEPT design for the expansion of Toyota Material Handling’s Plant #4 in Columbus, Indiana. The project included a 60,000-square-foot addition to an existing 18,000-square-foot warehouse facility, supporting Toyota’s ongoing manufacturing growth and operational efficiency.

Engineering Highlights

The design scope emphasized large open warehouse conditioning, energy-efficient air distribution, and system integration with existing infrastructure. Mechanical systems included roof-mounted DX rooftop units (RTUs) with variable air volume (VAV) controls to maintain consistent comfort levels across wide open manufacturing areas.

Electrical design integrated new power distribution and lighting layouts with the existing systems to maintain seamless operations throughout construction. Plumbing, fire protection, and telecommunications systems were extended and upgraded to meet the expanded facility’s operational and safety requirements, aligning with Toyota’s standards for sustainability, reliability, and worker comfort.
