R.E. Dimond and Associates provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and telecommunications (MEPT) engineering for the new 23,600SF Plainfield Fire Territory Station 124 in Plainfield, Indiana. Designed with Luminaut, this modern facility enhances the department’s emergency response capabilities and creates a comfortable, efficient environment for firefighters and staff.
The building will feature a variable air volume (VAV) system served by a DX air handling unit located in the basement, paired with an air-cooled condenser and boiler system for efficient heating and cooling. Electric unit heaters, exhaust fans, intake ventilators, and gas-fired radiant units provide zone-specific conditioning throughout the station, including the high-bay apparatus areas.
A major design focus was addressing limited space for mechanical and electrical systems in the high-ceiling areas. R.E. Dimond’s team worked closely with the design team to plan equipment placement and routing of ductwork, piping, and conduit to maintain clearances while meeting performance, comfort, and energy-efficiency goals.
The electrical design provides reliable power distribution, efficient LED lighting, and robust communications systems to support daily operations, training, and dispatch functions. Plumbing systems serve living quarters, kitchen facilities, and the apparatus bays, supporting both function and long-term durability.
Through thoughtful coordination and detailed system planning, R.E. Dimond and Associates delivered a reliable, energy-efficient fire station designed to meet the demanding needs of Plainfield Fire Territory and the growing community it serves.
