Nestled on the north side of Indianapolis, Hoosier Village Retirement Center is a 123,000-square-foot senior living neighborhood on 300 acres of rolling green hills. Cedarwood is the Village’s most recent expansion and features 80 new one and two-bedroom apartment units in a luxury residential care facility.
R.E. Dimond and Associates consulted on this project’s MEP design and focused on:
- Providing comfortable, personalized lighting, heating, and cooling.
- Energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems provide intuitive controls designed for seniors.
- Providing each apartment with a high-efficiency gas furnace with direct expansion (DX) cooling, reducing ductwork and costs.
- New and improved common areas are served by variable air volume (VAV) rooftop units (RTUs) with terminal zone control, providing more granular and custom temperature control.
Because we used high-efficiency HVAC equipment, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and LED lighting, the building owners and occupants enjoy reduced monthly energy bills.
New lighting inside and outside the facilities enhances the architectural features and provides a safe, senior-friendly environment for residents.
Our design teams also helped the Village include a new emergency diesel generator, designed to keep critical lights, medical equipment, and services online during a power outage.
